Watermelon Sangria

El Diablo con Limón

For something delicious off the beaten path, we recommend this incredible tequila punch with cassis and lemon from Serious Eats. This recipe serves 18. Serve this cocktail in glasses with ice.

10 lemons

1 cup (plus 2 tbsp) sugar

8 oz brewed black tea, cooled

20 oz silver tequila

4 1/2 oz crème de cassis

51 oz chilled seltzer or club soda

  • Juice all ten lemons and cut the rinds into 1 inch pieces.

  • Place the rinds in 1 cup of sugar and cover the bowl. Stir every 20 minutes.

  • After one hour, add the tea and 13 oz lemon juice to the bowl of sugar and rinds. Strain into a punch bowl.

  • Add the tequila and crème de cassis.

  • Before serving, stir and add the chilled seltzer or club soda.

Pro tips: Store the lemon juice in the refrigerator while the lemons are transferring their flavor to the sugar (aka maceration). If you want to prepare this ahead of time, you can refrigerate the whole mixture for up to ten hours after adding the tequila and and crème de cassis.
